Breaking Down Payouts, How to Earn & Our Promise to You

We want to give a quick explanation for some important changes that have occured since launching the partnership and how it affects things like your earnings, how to earn and our promises to you.

First: Breaking down payouts

Before understanding how the payout you see gets calculated, it's important to first understand what we're able to charge the customer for the delivery you do.

Since launching with the partner of Advance Auto Parts, ATD and others, there has essentially been a cap placed on what we're able to charge Advance Auto Parts and others for a delivery in order for Tonquin to have a chance to do that delivery.

If you multi-app you may have noticed Advance Auto Parts orders on these other apps such as Uber, Lyft and DoorDash. That is because they're also connected to this partner and offering a price to do the delivery with their drivers. (This is also why requests expire after roughly 4 minutes)

Simply put, Tonquin must match or beat the lowest cost offered to Advance Auto Parts from those other platforms in order for Tonquin to have a chance at passing the delivery along to you. This essentially means there is a cap on what we can payout for a delivery because there is a cap on what we can charge to even have a chance to do the delivery in the first place.

We shouldn't be mad at Advance Auto Parts. They are simply taking advantage of having access to all these platforms who want to compete for their business. What is important is the platform you chose to drive for and how much you make.

This is why you see payouts around $5-$7, because the most frequent orders are for deliveries within 3 miles or less and we can only charge so much for those. And it does take time and money to keep a platform like Tonquin running :). Depending on the city, anywhere from 70 to 85 percent of Tonquin's total cost to the customer gets paid out to you.

We're aiming to payout more than other platforms such as Uber, Lyft, DoorDash etc. who currently payout anywhere from 50 to 60 percent. This difference starts to add up and there is good money to be made with the high volume of orders happening at these auto part stores but it's important to know how and why you're getting paid.

Second: How to earn

If you've made it this far, you're probably wondering what you can do to make more money using Tonquin. Well, along with wanting to payout more for each delivery, we're committed to giving you the latest information regarding where and when to earn so you can do it efficiently.

On top of understanding that most drivers want to make around $1-$1.25/mile so it only makes sense that you'd want to be close to the pickup location at the time of the request, being close will also dramatically increase your chances of getting the request in the first place.

What these other platforms do is try and saturate areas with a lot of drivers so they always have someone to take the job for very little pay and then that makes earning very inconsistent.

We don't want to put the pressure on you to decide in seconds if a job is profitable or not or not know how to get jobs in the first place. We want to give you the information upfront so you can have a plan, optimize your earnings, and find customers you like delivering for.

If you're going to spend the time and do the work to figure out how to make more, we want to be as transparent as possible with the opportunities around you and how to get them.

We're working on ways to do this but make sure to open emails and communications from us that include important data showing you where to be and when to be there. And remember, you're independent so it never hurts to go into these businesses and introduce yourself!

Third: Our promise to you

In order for all this to work and for you to make money, things happen fast. You have to accepts jobs quick, they have to get done quick, and you have to do a lot of them to make money.

We realize the pressure that causes so we always promise to have a no games policy. This means no bonus programs (we just pay you more upfront) that force you to accept orders you don't want to, no acceptance rate tracking, and we will have more opportunities in the future for those that are committed, not less.

BUT, that also means that we're trusting the Delivery Providers on our platform to be more professional, timely, and customer focused than any other drivers out there on other platforms.

With all this said, there is a very good business to be built delivering for auto parts stores near you. There are a lot of deliveries happening, they need people like you to do them and there are so many perks to working independently and servicing local businesses.

As always, please text our support line and we will assist you with finding success in your local market.
